What are PVC stabilizers?

PVC heat stabilizers are mainly used for chlorine-containing polymers such as polyvinyl chloride. Studies have shown that PVC plastics need to be processed at temperatures above 160°C, but they begin to decompose at 120-130°C, releasing HCl gas when heated. If the generation of HCl is not suppressed, the decomposition process will intensify. Therefore, products used in polyvinyl chloride to improve the stability of polymers and inhibit their decomposition are called PVC stabilizers.

PVC stabilizers mainly include a variety of composite heat stabilizers such as lead salts stabilizers, calcium zinc stabilizers, and organic tin stabilizers.

Lead salts: provide good thermal stability, but are gradually restricted due to environmental and health issues.

Calcium zinc: an environmentally friendly option suitable for applications that require environmental friendliness and safety.

Organic tin: provides excellent transparency and thermal stability, but is more expensive and has certain toxicity.

These stabilizers added to PVC not only allow it to be processed smoothly, but also improve its weather resistance and heat aging resistance, especially in outdoor applications. In addition, they have a significant impact on the physical properties of PVC finished products. Factors such as the chosen process technology, the technical specifications of the PVC end product, the relevant regulatory requirements and the cost will all influence the specific type of stabilizer used.

PVC stabilizers must be environmentally conscious

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is an essential material in our daily lives. It is used in a variety of products, from rigid products such as pipes and window profiles to flexible products such as cables and packaging films. Stabilizers are essential materials for these PVC products to show durability and/or improve mold stability. Metal salts are the main components of stabilizers and are optimized for each application.

Advantages of PVC stabilizers

Excellent processing performance: ensures easy material handling during production, improves manufacturing efficiency and the quality of the finished product.

Excellent thermal stability: effectively prevents the decomposition of PVC materials under high temperature processing conditions and maintains the stability of material properties.

Excellent compatibility with PVC: The stabilizer can be evenly integrated into the PVC matrix without affecting the overall properties of the material while improving its durability.

Excellent dispersion: ensures uniform distribution of the stabilizer in PVC, thereby achieving optimal performance and helping to maintain the high quality standards of the product.
